Nerve Center

The salt must flow

I caught AIDS for this salt party, dealing with attention whoring twitter thots and cuckchan, this better be a real good one.

Anyway: confirmed ending is as follows.

>Sora gets REKT by Xehanort and there’s a fake game over screen

>his hearts still beating

>fucking reaction command into a beam struggle

>Donald and goofy help him

>fucks xehanort over

>everyone’s fine except Sora gets lost in time

>final scene is Sora and Kairi on destiny island holding hands

>she goes to kiss him and he evaporates

The end. That’s seriously it. Final boss is Sora vs 13 xehanigger clones, then baphomet-xehanort, then x-blade xehanort. There’s some cool shit in the penultimate fight which takes place in a FUCKING MAZE but it’s overall garbage tbh fams

Anon attempts to play Sengoku Rance

It's been a while since anyone tried this, so let's play some fucking videogames. We're playing on a 5-star difficulty. To make things more fun, you only get to spend 30 points on NG+ stuff for this playthrough. You get 30 minutes to vote on what to pick from the list below - having no bonus to start with is an option as well.

Strategy-wise, I'll try to explain what I'm doing the best I can, but stuff like cutscenes and plot is mostly getting skipped.

Games you should skip when entering a franchise

I have been playing the jak and daxter franchise (almost finishing 3), and i was wondering if i should play the lost frontier next or skip it.

and is there any other game that should be skipped when trying to get into a franchise?

Fullderp: A postponed memorial Edition

What's this all about?

Fullderp is a game where one of us declares himself the champ and takes a ragtag team of six Pokemon assembled by anons into an online competitive Pokemon battling simulator.

To quote one of Showdown's mods…

>@MacChaeger: None of these people are youtubers

>@MacChaeger: They impersonate verlis to to gain notoriety and attract new members

>@MacChaeger: These people regularly trick others into getting locked

>@MacChaeger: this is the single most toxic group of players on PS

Can I give the champ something?

Of course. If we've got a champ, feel free to come in and watch and give him something when he calls for a new team. No experience necessary, and everything's done in-browser.

How does it work?

When the current champ calls "new champ", the first poster to claim it is our champ. The first six legal Pokemon suggested once champ has been claimed or "new team" has been called will be the team our champ uses to battle.

Suggesters are not to make multiple suggestions for a team unless 15 minutes have passed since their last request, or unless the champ specifically asks for resuggests.

The champ will be battling in Smogon OU unless he specifies otherwise.

The Rules:

Failure to follow the rules will result in IMPEACHMENT and/or BULLYING.

1. The champ cannot forfeit or intentionally throw a match.

2. The champ may not edit a set without the suggester's permission.

3. All Pokemon must be nicknamed.

4. The champ is not allowed to timer stall.

5. If someone resuggests before 15 minutes have passed since their last suggest, the champ must ignore it.

6. The champ should replace resuggests with fresh suggests that come in later.

7. If champ gives himself Smogon sets, he's a faggot.

Annoying Vidya Aesthetics

What video game aesthetics trigger your OCD? For me, it's the top-down 3D view mixed with sideways, 2D sprites. I believe the original Legend of Zelda set the stage for this aesthetic, but other games like The Binding of Isaac have adopted it.

It's jarring to me when sprites become improperly oriented with walls and other structures. For example, when link is walking through a door at the bottom of the screen, it looks like he's laying on his back. If you're going to have a top-down view of a level, you need a top-down view of the sprites as well. Otherwise, do it like Gauntlet where all sprites are oriented with the same head-on, 45-degree angle.

I guess we're waiting for the PC release then. Anyone here enjoyed the JP version when it first came out? Games with grungy aesthetic

If there's something I miss in this shitty industry is games with grungy, dirty and unsettling atmospheres.

Noteven indieshits get that right on their garbage "horror" walking sims

Recommend and list some games that have that.

I'll start with some:

>Out of Hell

>Killing Floor

>Sillent Hill

>Resident Evil 2-4

-Half Life 2

Not every section but plenty of sections where it's present

>Afraid of Monster and Cry of Fear

Multiple Monitors

Are there any games that take advantage of having multiple monitors for anything other then an expanded FOV? Like having a map on one screen, kind of like the WiiU speaking of which does Cemu support this?

Seems like most normal-fags these days have at least 2 monitors, it'd be neat to use them for something cool in-game.

Where to play Yu-Gi-Oh!

For online: YGOPro Percy (for PC), YGOProES (for Android) -

Archive with all games playable on PC (mostly through emulation):

Tag Force 1-6 are the best if you want a story (2006-2011, 6 has only the first 25 XYZ monsters).

Tag Force Special (2015) is the best to play for learning the game with many of the new cards.

The World Championship series (2004-2011) and Duel Academy (2006) are pretty good too. Definitely check out Dungeon Dice Monsters.

All are fun for pet/archetype non-meta decking. Legacy of the Duelist is shit.

Other Games

Cardfight!! Vanguard -

Useful Links (Wiki with information for players, new and old) (Yu-Gi-Oh! stock market) (OCG decklists) (TCG decklists) - (TCG/OCG news sites) (Probability calculator) (Ban list)

Warefram Factional Facts; Your Daily Reminder

Lotus says when it comes to picking sides in the warframe war, ( *in terms of lore-politics* if you care to get into that . . .) Ponder for a moment that the fact that the Grineer have produced the persona of 'Clem' , and what has the Corpus ? nothing. infact take that for a consideration for a moment if you will when it comes to the characteristics of the factions in the solarsystem's dynamics of how they operate, also that the Grineer were in the far flung past known to be the 'builder's' while the Corpus seem preoccupied with 'profits' as one might come to learn. Should you care? up to you. but now you know.

Japanese Learning Thread: 変な感じ Edition

>I'm completely new, where do I start?

Learn the Kana. Start with Hiragana and then move on to Katakana. Yes, you need both, and yes stroke order is important. Use Realkana or Kana Invaders for spaced repetition. Alternatively, you can use the Anki deck, but I'd recommend the first two. Tae Kim has a Kana diagram on his website, and you can use KanjiVG for pretty much any character.

>Alright, I know the Kana. Now what?

You have to learn vocabulary and grammar in order to speak and understand the language. Some will tell you to grind the Core2k/6k deck until you're blue in the face, others will tell you that grammar is more important. Truth is, you need both, but it doesn't really matter which one you decide to do first. You're teaching yourself here, so you move at your own pace and do what you're most receptive to. If you want grammar first, then Tae Kim has a great introductory grammar guide, there are numerous grammar related videos in Anon's all-in-one-Anki-package, IMABI has an active forums and an abundance of information on grammar, and there's always YouTube if you're lazy. On the other hand, if you want to learn vocab first, then grab the Core2k/6k and grind until you're blue in the face. For mnemonics, see Kanji Damage.

>Well this is great and everything, but I still need more help

Ask in this thread.

Immature, Gross and Funny games

i miss all the immature but incredibly funny humor in video games like conker's bad fur day jokes or Daxter quotes on Jak 2, duke nukem 3D or even little details like doomguy smiling when picking a new weapon.

now vidya companies have become something more "mature" so normalfags feel like they're grown ups who dont play baby shit.

the last company i recall hasn't abandon this attitude at all is devolver digital.

is there any other game that has this kinda humor?

Haven and hearth-Happening time

Haven and hearth world 11 has been announced Feb 1st. For anons who remember our haven and hearth threads from the first exodus, we joined late in the world and got ganked after setting up a pretty decently successful village, but thats just life.

What has changed since our last playthrough:

-3D graphics

-quality of life changes

-two new skills added

-credos added which can confer amazing bonuses if you progress in them

-new animals and wonders

-quests and dungeons

-mammoths and walruses that will rape you seriously

-balance changes

-new housing such as a viking feast hall or a stone tower and a fully animated windmill with optional grist mill inside

-wood and stone and ingot material colors now affect regions of your buildings

-you can place stockpiles to hold large amounts of base materials like logs and hides

-you can now make custom art and apply it to capes, flags, knarrs, banners, shields, wallpaper, etc

-longboat (knarr) added

-you have to use a wilderness beacon with its hearth secret and light it to bring people in

-you can no longer straight up murder people, you have to whittle them down, learning rage now allows you to murder.

-the world of haven is safer than ever for a bunch of new players and player kingdoms "tax" (You earn all the LP you would have and they also earn a percentage) in exchange for a nice buff in their territory to stats.

I want to play immediately to check this out and warm up during the last two weeks of world 10

when you get ingame add the hearth secret "serialautist" or see if theres a wilderness beacon ready with the same hearth secret, if you have literally no idea what you are doing then check the following link

What jobs are there?

Miner, smith, dedicated hermit, animal tamer, hunter, cook, archery/unarmed/swordsman/axeman cheesemaker, winemaker, farmer, silk grower, tanning, clothier, artist, lawspeaker/mayor, magician, fisherman, forager and many more.

Wasted Potential

Post "good" games that could have been more but got fucked over by companies.

Yakuza Kiwami on (((Steam))) not going to use Denuvo

Its a good start Sega. Now offer other options for release besides Steam please, preferably with physical options too

Seems this is a good sign though, suggesting there's a chance they might be coaxed out of it.

Let's look at the games Sega released recently that either didn't have Denuvo at all, or had it removed before or after release or cracking

>Shenmue 1+2

>Catherine Classic

>Two-Point Hospital

And now Yakuza Kiwami, which is a big game for them.

I don't like Steam at all (in fact I fucking despise it), but I encourage any of you faggots who still use it at all and like Yakuza games and no Denuvo to buy it.

Cutest Video Game Character

What/who is the cutest - or if not the cutest, still very cute - video game character out there? Make the argument here because you won't get the chance to anywhere else.

Bonus points if you try to argue for anyone but Kirby, the almost obligatory cute video game character.

Additional bonus points if it's a non-Nintendo character.

Fear & Hunger

Bought this game a few days ago and took me roughly about 15 hours to beat it the first time through, and was able to speed run another one in about 3 to 4 hours after that on a 2nd try hard run. The wiki for this game however is currently under-development so I wanted to consult some anons for secrets or interesting discovery on top of a general discussion, because I'm virtually drooling over ever inch of lore and victory in this game.

>What is Fear & Hunger?

Basically a very, VERY tough RPG Maker game that focuses on

>Ancient Gods & Newly Ascended Gods

>A Dungeon that causes you to go mad with fear & hunger

>You must manage Sanity which also acts as your mana through sex, drugs, light and booze

>Hunger is a constant concern so micro managing your food intake is a must

>A relatively good class & party system with a wide array of potential members

>A ton of Options in terms of play-style and character growth

>Randomized Dungeons (assembled from maybe 2-3 presets from each connecting section it looks like) every playthrough

>A shit ton of rape

>Limited & Dangerous Save System, every save counts

>Vast array of very Deadly Enemies

>Attack Planning, weakness assessment and good old fashion fleeing will be needed for nearly every encounter

>Dismemberment Combat System that works both ways, dismember or BE dismembered

>Traps and other weapons which work outside of specified combat (you can lop off enemies legs before engaging with bear traps for example)

>Desperate and varied Environments

>Lots of Endings that each carry importance (no true endings that I'm aware of)

Anyone else playing?

Also known glitch for a certain spell, Blood Golem if summoned is a great ally, but once you finish the dev forgot to remove them from the party and since they have no Inventory Menu Picture the game can't load it and you will get stuck in a loop. Only Bug I've encountered but can ruin a run if you aren't careful.

Project NX: Project M 2: Electric Boogaloo

SO Switch hacking is really easy, demonstrated by the fact that mods for Ultimate are already being made. One of these people took it upon themselves to start changing values and tried to change movement. What does this mean? Project M 2.0 baby. A few days ago, NyxTheShield announced he started development of Project NX, a spiritual successor to Project M, an effort to speed up the gameplay of Smash Ultimate, and give things like enhanced attack and movement options. So, how do people react?

Meleefags are meleefags, they will stick with melee. PMfags are cool - hey, more characters! But Reddit and Ultimatefags are ABSOLUTELY ASSBLASTED.

So, what do you think? Nyx is apparently not scared of Nintendo or the Smash (read: Reddit+Ultimate) community, and will probably have the legal overhead to keep modding the game. Below are some videos of the result of the modding. Excuse me for the low quality, but they are Twitter videos and are pretty shit to begin with.

Me being a PMfag, I really like the idea. I don't have a Switch yet, but if this thing takes off and proper emulators and homebrew starts coming out, I might just pick up one secondhand. Prime 4 has also a big factor in this

Guide to a happy Share Thread

1. Before requesting, search online and even use distributed search engines e.g.InfraSearch,Opencola,YaCy,FAROO. See below for famous links.

2. Look first in the archives and volafile.

3. Be as specific as possible. If you have the cover art of the file you want, post it in both the share thread and in vola room.

4. Due to asshats in the thread, links to files will be purposely misleading (have spaces, lines, keys&passwords split in the post),including torrent hashes.

If you see a string of characters (e.g. c12fe1c06bba254a9dc9f519b335aa7c1367a88a) with or without dashes, it is a magnet link.

If your bittorrent is shit, prepend magnet:?xt=urn:btih: to the string.

a. Find and Replace (sed/tr/awk) is your friend.

1. When in doubt;upload, ask questions later.

2. Upload to many alternative sources (5+) and keep a local copy if space permits.

3. Use a URL shorterner (spaced or split) and/or paste relinks (e.g on file links to confuse bots.

4. Encrypt your uploads now with a password, key, or generator.Rename the files something random, even their checksums.Maybe even pad files to the nearest GB or so,to confuse bots.

5. If your connection is stable,it is extremely advisable to self host. Using anonymity tools like Freenet,I2P,Gnunet,distributed NNTP or MixMinion/Mixmaster.

1. Before uploading a batch of miscellaneous files,e.g images and music be sure they are unique enough to stand on their own and that you ask for the majority's the consensus whether to upload the files individually.

2. Vola room owner edit- Upload 5 files and then zip the rest if the dump is larger then 6-7 files. Music Albums exceeding 5 files are to be zipped. When uploading .torrent, either add them to the a zip of the game or just don’t upload those misc files.Properly label files so that they can be identified without asking someone else. For lewd stuff with filenames like RJ74765 either add a .txt linking to the contents on a website or just add the title to the .txt e.g "BIG BOOTY WOMEN SIT ON SHOTA FACE (RJ34734)".

3. You can filter files by file type (.txt, .rar, etc) or search the file list with the bar hidden by the filter files button.

a. When in doubt, archive as a single [or split if too large],then upload.

FMV (Full Motion Video)

There's something so charming about FMV to me. Anybody else feel this way? I'll go ahead and post some of the (PC) video games foremost in my mind that feature FMV here but go ahead and fill me in if I've missed any - preferably with live-action actors, but animated ones, like what you'd see with Dragon's Lair is perfectly acceptable, especially if they have such good Don Bluth style graphics.

Dragon Quest

I've played DQIV and V a few years ago and they bored me because of weak storyline and forgettable characters. I also hate Amano's artstyle, all of his faces look the same.

Should I play VI and further entries?

Will tactical FPS games like R6, GR or SWAT 3 ever make a return?

I just want a comfy singleplayer/coop game where you have to use your brain.

does anyone care about the new fromsoft game?

Anyone at all?

It seems like everyone i know, even people that were playing their games back in the 90's are suffering a kind of 'studio fatigue' and have this sentiment of "DS3 was a mess of recycled shit from bloodborne, Not-Tenchu will do the same to DS3" and looking at enemy animations in the trailers i can't say i think that sentiment is going to be proved wrong.

I mean personally i still like the 3rd person take on NES era castlevania gameplay that the souls games brought back. I'm somewhat excited for Noih 2 and The Surge 2. But i have played 5 fromsoft releases in a row over 10 years and they have all been roughly the same idea on repeat. For ten years.

Is it just burnout? a form of brand fatigue for the studio? or are they just stuck as a meme dev now who are only contracted to make one thing?

Because lets be real this is an Activision co-venture and they need an original IP to shill into the ground with RMT microtransactions now they are losing Destiny and this is all they have on the backburner waiting to release.

Are you excited for Shadows Die Twice?

buggy MMORPG's

I picked up the new .Hack remaster but forgot it is actually the sequel to .Hack//Roots so shelved it to watch the only series i never got into back in the day.

Part of the story early on is the mmo the games set in is growing increasingly buggy and players are treating bugs like something between bad weather and hauntings.

Nowadays in real life MMORPG's can be hotfixed much easier and serious bugs are rare and strange bugs don't stick around for long.

Whats the actual buggiest mmorpg you have played? How did the players deal with the jank?

NIHON FALCOM THREAD: Evil Penguin Edition

NISA has the rights to Trails now. At this point asking for people to support the older releases seems somewhat futile but it's your money so if you want to support XSeed's old work then go ahead.

>Latest News

-On January 17th, 2019 NISA formally announced they had acquired the rights to the Trails series (and likely has had them for some time) and would be releasing Cold Steel 3 in fall of 2019 for the PS4 (no other platforms have been announced so far). In an attempt of damage control it was announced Brittany "Hatsuu" Avery, Ryan Thompson and Kris Kniggev (all veterans of XSeed's work on the CS series) had been contracted to work on the game to ensure script accuracy, do translation work and, in Hatsuu's case, manage the VAs and dub (Sean Chiplock has already been confirmed as returning as Rean). This is probably been the biggest fear of the Falcom General for a while and it's here now. NISA's play here is pretty smart and a good portion of the initial outrage was quelled by these staff announcements. For now the best course of action will be to gather information and watch NISA very closely for when they release content from the translation (like screenshots or trailers). Collecting info from NISA's past deeds is also a good plan, but keep in mind it will be difficult to make much headway with that alone until we can show they're fucking up this translation too thanks to their insulation via the stunt hires. Being attentive and vigilant is your best course of action here.

-Ys IX: Monstrum Nox was revealed. It is the furthest game in the Ys timeline and will release in fall of 2019.

-Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2 will release on PS4 in February and March of 2019. For the first time the games will have dual audio, though the dub will feature the extra lines recorded for the PC versions. It will also feature the "turbo mode" feature added to the PC versions.

-The PC versions of Cold Steel 1 and 2 had dual audio patched in, so as long as you are able to update your game an undub is no longer necessary if you want to play it with Japanese audio. Also some new English lines were added to CS1 with the patch.

-On the same day, October 26th, both Tom Lipschultz and Brittany "Hatsuu" Avery left XSeed. Hatsuu has since gone freelance and was hired by NISA to work on Cold Steel 3.

- As of this posting Trails of Cold Steel 4 has been out for nearly four months in Japan, so obviously the whole game is spoiled. Try to keep things behind spoilertext here.

- The PC port of Ys: Memories of Celceta released on July 25th, 2018.

- The Switch port of Ys VIII released with a litany of bugs, including not even having dual audio (NISA's sole claim to fame) at launch.

- After an email campaign, a retranslation, apologies, and 7 months of delays, Ys 8 finally got released on PC. And NISA fucked up, the port is so terrible that only 51% of the Steam reviews being positive (it was originally at 25%, but shills will shill). Western and Japanese websites are reporting this story. In other words, a huge backlash. Meanwhile, NISA promised to fix everything. Don't worry, they'll probably be able to fix in a few weeks what they couldn't fix in 1.5 years. Absolutely. Ha.

- Trails of Cold Steel I & II is now on PC through Steam and GOG with gameplay enhancements and newly voiced lines of dialogue.

- Ys Seven ported to PC by XSEED, available now on Steam/GOG/Humble Store

- Zwei!! and Zwei II are finally released on PC by XSEED, available now on Steam/GOG/Humble Store

- Tokyo Xanadu released on PS4/PC with an improved translation, but there are a few issues like slangs, memes and random chtulhu lines.

- Also available on PC: the Trails in the Sky trilogy (now with Turbo mode), Xanadu Next, Ys: I & II Chronicles, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim, Ys: The Oath in Felghana and Ys Origin.

>Trails from Zero at 70% (being edited by Geofront/Zerk). There is already a beta (as in a rough translation done before Zerk even started working on it) out, though the quality is on the low side, though still coherent from start to finish

>Trails to Azure was leaked. There are a few typos and every once in a while there's an awkward line or two but all in all it's a solid translation. Flame's edit of the translation is also out officially now. It's a better worded script at the cost of pretty much breaking the voice mod. Both are available packaged with torrents if you care to look for them.

>Everything else in the works seems to be MIA.

Star Citizen thread

I think it's time to admit that Star Citizen is finally a game /v/.

It's looking good and it will surely be released in 2 years.

Prediction thread: who is V?

Game comes out next month, Neros and Dante are back but [V has come too] and his powers are summoning the demons/monsters from the early games.

So what do you think the deal is? Son of Mundus? Mundus reincarnated but crippled because Dante beat the shit out of him? he does know Dante apparently, or is he Lady's brother and the summons are just generic demon summons and not specific to Mundus at all?

Whats your expectation?

Disillusioned/Tired Nintendo Fans

Anyone else here is/was a Nintendo fan, but just depressed with the state (or rather, the direction) they're going in?

I was a Sega/Playstation kid growing up, my family was too poor for much else, but I remember playing the N64 at a friend's house and being enraptured by many of the games on the system, like Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Banjo-Kazooie. It seemed to unique and fun, and eventually we got a Gamecube (and later a Wii when that was the big thing). I also got a Game Boy, an Advance, and a DS, though it was mostly for Pokemon. I've always really loved how these was a level of quality with there games that always felt like there was a quality check to them. A lot of their games were pioneers at best, and at there worst still had some amount of merit to soul to them, even if it was pitiable. The other thing I admired about them was how tight-nit their franchises felt. They all felt interwoven and connected, never fully forgotten even after their time.

I think around the Wii U era and Iwata's death was when I started to get disillusioned. This was around the time they started heavily censoring their games, embracing the worst industry trends of DLC, and flirting with the mobile market. While you could say "Nintendo has always censored their games!" it was starting to look like the practice was dying off, then it came back and fucking hard, with even minor budget games getting censored. Nintendo also during the Wii era had forgone DLC, yet it started appearing first on the 3DS, and then later with Amiibo, obnoxious physical DLC.

The Switch feels like a bitter-sweet event. On one hand, it seems to have sparked some great games from them, and they finally have capable third party support. On the other, the Switch forgos all the gimmicks the Wii and Wii U had, the wii-mote aiming and dual screen. While you can say these were gimmicks, they had potential to be used right and did get used properly in some games. The Wii U's death in particular I always found to be cruel as the touch screen never got a chance to prove it's worth despite the DS line proving that it could bring about unique gameplay designs. And now, with the death of the DS line, it seems dual-screen games like Kirby Canvas Curse, Etrian Odyssey, and others are dead in the water, at least in their current form. The fact that the Switch abandons any pretense of innovation/gimmick feels like an admission of defeat. This along with the paid-online, the slaughtering of many of their franchises (Smash looks like it's going to be a shill-fest of third party characters, many franchises are getting the mobile treatment which means certain death, other franchises receive sudden or unjust deaths and likely will remain in such a state, and those that don't, well fuck look at the state of Fire Emblem and Pokemon.) And then, just as the icing on the cake, soyboys swarm and make themselves diehard Nintendo fans. They can't tell you the name of any franchise that isn't in Smash (unless it's a highly requested character like Isaac) but damn if they won't tell you their favorite Earthbound-inspired RPG while buying 50 "hidden gems" SNES games they'll never play or care about.

There's always sticking with their classic games, keeping to the NES-3DS and just pretending a bunch of their later games never happened, but it'll always carry a bittersweet taste to it, knowing what was to come. Their recent comments about wanting to be like Disney made me realize just how bad things will probably get. I don't know if Nintendo died when the last Nintendo Power came out, or when Iwata died (he never trained a successor, unlike how he was trained to take over Nintendo due to his untimely death sadly), but it certainly has, and it's sad. People used to shit on the Wii era but damn if I don't miss it, people weren't aware of just what would come afterwards.

I've been wanting to get this off my chest for a while now and now I realize it's somewhat incoherent but it's late at night, and I hope there are people out there who can relate. Am I the only one like this, are there others? If you're a "I always hated Nintendo" guy that's fine, but please don't derail this thread. This is more about being tired and disappointed with the direction the company is heading, not being against the company in its entirety.

Anyone else playing Chinese Hotline Miami? Feels like a John Woo movie made into a game.

Mozilla has a podcast episode, with transcript, about the moderators who delete videos, tweets, and other content on Youtube, Twitter, and Facebook. As there is a lot of righteous anger over video game censorship on /v/, I thought /v/ might be interested in the other side's perspective.

Do you cheat in games, /v/? If yes, what kind of games and what kind of cheats? And why? Is it to make it easier? To bypass grind? If multiplayer, to grow your penis? To be able to relax? Just for keks? Do you ever feel bad about cheating? Do you ever feel dirty and guilty, just like after you stroke your pecker? Let's hear your cheating/hacking stories and reasons.

Anon's bizarre vidya adventure AKA /v/ makes an RPG maker game. (Edition): #010!

We’re creating a video game in RPG Maker VX Ace together with other anons. Here’s how it works:

We have our own board over at >>>/bizarre/ to act as an archive for changes/resources/discussion. There will always be threads on /v/, but /bizarre/ will serve to host more permanent discussion.

Everyone is taking turns downloading the newest version of the game, making contributions before reuploading it for someone else to work on it. Only one person can actively work on it at a time. This is because if two people make overlapping changes to the database, scripts or switches, they will conflict resulting in one person having to redo all his work. Changes to the map and events can be copy-pasted from one version of a project to another so you’re free to work on new maps and new events if its not your turn and add them to the current version of the game once it is your turn.

It should work like this: OP posts newest version of the map. The first person (Anon #1) to respond to OP stating that he’s going to work on it becomes the active game dev. Once Anon #1 finishes and re-uploads it, the first person to respond to him gets to work on it. So on and so forth. Additionally, whenever you re-upload a new version, reply to the anchor post, it’ll make things a lot easier.

General Rules

>Don’t mess with maps, events or anything else you didn’t make. Although, adding minor stuff like a connection between two areas or fixing bugs and typos is all fine.

>If you’re okay with others editing your stuff, leave a note saying so.

>You’re free to add characters and the like, to the inter-dimensional tavern.

>You’re also free to make changes to game settings, unless its something we’ve agreed upon (we’ll probably do this via a poll)

How do I RPG Maker VX Ace?

>Here’s a good tutorial series if you want to learn how to use it. inb4 jewtube

What about RPG Maker MV?

>We decided in the last thread that we’re using VX Ace. We’re not changing this again. Get it out of your head right now. If you made content in MV you’ll have to back port it to VX Ace. It sucks, but we’re not doing any more engine changes.

Why don't you fucks use version control?

>Like RPG Maker MV, we tried that and the project died. Nobody wanted to learn git. It can't be helped. Plus someone needs a (((premium))) account if we want the project to be private.

Are you guys affiliated with [PUT ANY OTHER /v/ PROJECT HERE]

>No, the group creating this game is not a stable dev group and is only comprised of random anons who get interested in the project enough to start developing is.

Add X to the Game!

>Suggestions are fine, but if you want something added to the game. DO IT YOURSELF. Its not that hard.

What should I add?

>Go nuts, add whatever the hell you like! (However, please keep in mind that if the filesize of this project gets too large it’ll become unruly to work with. So please be somewhat conservative when adding large music or .ogv files.)

Is OP a faggot?

>Which game to begin the series with?

Start with Re;Birth 1 to test the waters, then play Re;Birth 2 and/or Re;Birth 3 (with the Re;Translations), and then V-II.

>I've heard of bad translations in the Neptunia games, care to tell me more about it?

Translation Statuses are:

HDN, HDN Mk2 and Victory: NISA cancer.

Re;Birth 1 and V-II: Translation is alright, no worries from these ones.

Re;Birth 2: Not obviously bad at the start, but gets much worse as it goes along: in particular Neptune and Ram were screwed hard during localization. However, there is a Re;Translation made on our very own board (see above links).

Re;Birth 3: Better than the original NISA translation in Victory but still quite a lot of cancer. Main game has been retranslated, translators still required to translate DLC content.

All of the spin-offs: Varying translation quality. These range from cancer to mediocre. Recent releases have been somewhat better overall.

>I'm too poor to buy the games, where do I grab them?

Ask the Volafile or share threads.

>I want to help with the translation efforts

Is YIIK the fuckup of the year?

>make soycore game

>self insert fantasy

>sell it was hipster earthbound

>add shit like iwata 'tribute'

>say you are 'saving jrpgs'

1 week later

>normalfags hate the bad gameplay

>soycore hate the main character for being low tier racist, sexist and transphobic

>anons hate it because its soyboy trash

Surely it can't get worse right?

>adds creepy segment in game

>its just the real life death of a mentally ill person

>she shows up as a jump scare ghost later.

Now yeah the outrage culture crowd is running faux upset at 11 but as anons removed from all that bullshit is this the most 'what did you think was going to happen?' fuck up you've seen in a hot minute?

I think this is the fastest career suicide i've seen in the industry. Maybe ever.

Report: U.S. Video Game Industry Revenue Reached Record-Breaking $43.4 Billion in 2018

According to a report from the ESA and the NPD Group, video game sales reached a record-breaking figure of $43.4 billion this year.

>$7.5 billion of that comes from hardware and peripheral sales, a 15 percent increase from the 2017 figure of $6.5 billion. Likewise, software, in-game purchases, and subscriptions made up $35.8 billion of that record-breaking number, an 18 percent increase from $30.4 billion in 2017. Those numbers come from NPD, with additional figures covering purchases from mobile platforms provided by Sensor Tower.

ESA President and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis says:

“The impressive economic growth of the industry announced today parallels the growth of the industry in mainstream American culture. Across the nation, we count people of all backgrounds and stages of life among our most passionate video game players and fans. Interactive entertainment stands today as the most influential form of entertainment in America.”

Mat Piscatella, video games industry analyst for the NPD Group Says:

“2018 was another record-setting year for the U.S. video game industry as consumer spending jumped 18 percent to over $43 billion. Whether it was playing on the go on a mobile device or at home on a PC or console, consumers of all ages and interests found compelling content that delighted in 2018. Console, PC, and mobile platforms all saw significant growth, while developing portions of the market like subscription and streaming services gave us a peek into a future full of possibilities for the industry and gamers.”

ITT: games that had the potential to be good, but got fucked by poor decisions.

>coop fallout game

<no npcs'

<reused assets

<rick and morty marketing

<fortnite microtransaction model

Just your typical nuBethesda slop by Pete Hines.

ITT we judge others based off of their collective game icons.

You thought Clair was wearing glasses based on this promotional image.

Does nu-Leon look like the natural technological evolution of the OG cutscene render?

Game design.

Can we have a nice comfy thread to discuss game design?

The cancellation of Silent Hills is representative of the death of video games as an art form. Now it's just a product to be sold, there's no love put into games anymore. No soul.

Sega Pico

I know it's closer to a toy than a console, but it's still a console.

I've seen some of the games and they all look like shit, but are there any actually good games for this system? Probably not, but, could there have been?

The video in most of the games looks limited by design and not by hardware limitations.

Battle Network Thread

Let's have a Battle Network Thread. Plenty of anons like the games, so why not?

>What's your order for games from best to worst?

>What's your favorite style change?

>Favorite Double Soul/Cross?

>Favorite/hopeful BN fan project?

Fate Grand Order

Fate GO Thread.

Gramps is currently available and there's 1/2 ap on mat quests as well. There are a lot of reruns to look forward to for those that missed them the first time. I'm currently looking forward to next month and MHXA. Good luck to those still rolling for Gramps!

Diablo 2

How to play diablo 2 today? Are there mods that increase the droprates so you don't have to do a billion baal runs to get gear?

What other must-have mods for D2 exist?

Any specific version needed to play mods?

Is there still a /v/ diablo 2 server around?

"Micro" Transactions

Latest COD is going absolutely insane with the new "Micro" Transactions. I know it's

so nobody is expecting anything from it, but it's setting a disturbing trend that other games could copy in the coming years, so I think we need to talk about it, it makes horse armor look downright generous

Let's review how much money the game wants you to spend:

>60$ for a normal edition

>60$ Season pass, includes 4 zombie maps and 12 multi maps, they specifically gave you less maps this year and just padded out the rest with ports of older maps, and 4 blackout skins

We're already at 120$ if you want the "Full package", let's keep going

>No single/campaign

>Cancerous multiplayer that is almost nothing like "Call of duty", copies everything under the sun that's new and popular. Wants to be the next overwatch/csgo/R6 Siege badly

>Blackout, the new "Battle Royale" mode, pretty much pubg with the "highly marketable" character skins and slightly less bugs

>Zombies is okay, but very un-inspired, 60$ season pass advertised 4 "brand new" maps, but turns out the 2nd of 4 maps is going to be yet another remake

>All 3 game modes are clearly rushed, not enough content, basic features cut out and re-introduced in updates weeks to months later, hailed as "brand new" additions we've never seen before

>Game is bleeding fanbase, PC especially. BR mode on PC is pretty much dead on arrival, to the point that the game mode is going to be free to play later in the year

So now that people know what we're dealing with, let's take a look at the microtransaction system. Keep in mind, let's pretend we've already spend 120$ on this game already:

>Battle pass like system, with 100-200 tiers

>each tier takes about 1 hour of real play time, no way to speed it up, no matter how well you play

>"Generous" free skip for pretty much just touching the game in any game mode daily

>Cannot earn tiers in zombies, the only mode people actually care about

Strategy Thread - MTW2

So i've been trying out Stainless steel and it's been great crushing france and scotland as the worthless curs they are. Castile showed up out of the blue and started eyeing my cities like a horny teenager for a close about 20 years now but they don't do anything. they just sit there and watch them, sometimes leaving for a spell only to return in ever increasing numbers.

Should i be worried?

Emulation Thread

>decide I want to play a GBA game from my youth

>remember that LoveROMs got fucked my Nintendo and Emuparadise is useless without the user script (which I don't have)

>have to go 5 search results down on Jewgle to find a website that doesn't try to make me download a fucking .exe

>even then the website just loops when clicking the download link, have to disable ad blocker to get the zip file

So what are you gents emulating lately?

Future For Street Fighter

It's well known that Yoshinori Ono has gone on record saying that he's been simplifying Street fighter's mechanics and core gameplay ever since 4 so SF can reach a wider audience. A big complaint of 5 is the lack of depth, but since 4 was so widely acclaimed he continued to simplify SF, but with 5 instead of improving upon the core design it's just a continuation of simplification. My main worry is that since 4 was so widely acclaimed and since 5 is popular as well, literally being on Disney Channel albeit their sub channel, that we'll never see a return to the mechanical depth let alone any sort of improvement on the core that SF used to have, all for the sake of "reaching a wider audience". Is there any hope to see a return?

death of vydia

*re-upload because op is fucking retarded*

Japanese games being censored everywhere, Indie market being filled with soy and sjw pandering, and AAA is shit as always.

Let's face it anons this is just a preview of the dammed future for videogames and we will just have to play the same old games

>give up all hope

any """"good"""" game that appears is just a water puddle in the middle of the desert, everyone wants it for better or worse

>i managed to delete my own thread accidentally shit on me all you like

Machinima deleted all its uploads

It's all gone, at least this gem of a video is safe. It may have been an evil, but it was a cataloging evil, that had a lot of shit.

Colobot discussion

Holy crap this is fun and comfy. Those green ants should have been the Creeper for Minecraft.
